It is proposed that this pool specifically for learning be 20m x 6m. The depth of the pool will begin at 80 cm and gradually deepen, with a maximum depth of 1 meter. This pool will be utilized to teach water safety techniques and basic swimming skills. It will also have recreational uses. This pool will serve the most immediate need in Kayamandi as there are rather few experienced swimmers within the community.

Additionally, a half-Olympic size pool will be necessary for training competitively as well as hosting competitive events and practices. This pool will be, at a minimum, 25m x 20m pool with a depth of 1.8 meters. If space allowed and it was financially viable, a pool with an extended width of 25 meters and depth of 2 meters would be an even greater opportunity. Along the pool would be an area for stands to allow for spectators at competitive events. This pool would not only be used for competitive practices and events, but also other water sports. These sports include water polo, underwater hockey, etc. The pool would also have some recreational uses as well.

To allow for year round usage of the two pools, both would need to be covered by a structure to allow for temperature control and easier maitenance. For maximum use of space, the plant room, storage for equipment, pumps, etc. will be underneath the stands. With this proposed facility, Kayamandi Sports Development hopes to bring new opportunities and skills to the people of Kayamandi.
